Born in Lincolnshire, England in 1953. Originally intending to become a vet, Bob spent the four years following school in a variety of jobs, from farmworker to circus performer, until he entered the theatre as a stage manager. Two years later, in 1978, he switched to acting and has been a professional actor since that time, performing over 130 roles in theatre, radio and television. In 1996 and 1997, he performed at Vienna’s English Theatre, as Bottom in A Midsummer Night’s Dream and as Oliver and Touchstone in As You Like It. In early 1998, he returned privately to Vienna to live, and has been here ever since. He now writes, teaches English for business and records museum guides. He has written for the theatre and radio: Distant Voices, an early life of Tennyson, toured England in 1992 to great success. He also developed adaptations of Edgar Allan Poe stories for the BBC. He is currently working on Burnt Texts, a collection of prose fragments written in English and German, a novel based on John Clare’s escape from the madhouse and a play based on Andrej Tarkovsky’s film, Stalker.
